Braj Chaurasi Kos Yatra

Katha Vachak: Srimajjagadguru Dwaracharya Lalitamba Peethadhishwar Swami Shri Jairamdas Devacharya Ji Maharaj

Event Date: 02-Dec-2025 10:00 AM - 08-Dec-2025 06:00 AM

Event Address: Acharya Shri Jayaram Ashram Chaitanya Vihar, Vrindavan

That’s a great summary of the Braj Chaurasi Kos Yatra — a revered pilgrimage deeply rooted in Hindu tradition and devotion to Lord Krishna. To expand a bit for a fuller picture:

The Braj Chaurasi Kos Parikrama (or Braj Yatra) covers the entire Braj Bhoomi, the land associated with Krishna’s divine pastimes (leelas). The term “Chaurasi Kos” literally means 84 kos, where one kos is roughly 3 kilometers, making the total circuit about 252 kilometers.

Key Highlights:

Major Sites: Mathura (Krishna’s birthplace), Vrindavan (his youthful pastimes with Radha and the gopis), Nandgaon (his foster home), Barsana (Radha’s birthplace), Govardhan (the sacred hill he lifted), Gokul, and several other villages and forests associated with Krishna’s leelas.

Spiritual Significance: Performing this yatra is said to grant moksha (liberation) and cleanse the devotee of sins. It’s a symbolic act of devotion, surrender, and remembrance of Krishna’s divine presence.

Tradition: Pilgrims often walk the entire route barefoot, chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra or Radhe Radhe. While traditional yatris may take several weeks, many modern devotees complete it in a shorter span using vehicles.

Festivals: The pilgrimage sees a major influx of devotees during festivals like Janmashtami, Holi, and Guru Purnima.
